Garment Manufacturer for UK Brands | Circular Knit | Turkey
Updated: May 8

UK clothing brands face a specific sourcing problem that European brands do not. Post-Brexit, the logistics and duty landscape shifted. Bangladesh and China still carry standard UK import tariffs. Turkey does not. The UK-Turkey Trade Agreement preserves tariff-free access for Turkish-origin garments, which changes the landed cost calculation meaningfully.
Istanbul Tekstil is a circular knit garment manufacturer based in Istanbul. We have produced for UK brands continuously since the 1980s and have direct familiarity with UK import requirements, labelling regulations, and the practical expectations of UK wholesale and retail buyers.
What We Make
Our core production range covers circular knit t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, polo shirts, and long-sleeve styles. We work in standard cotton, organic cotton, and cotton-polyester blends. Weights run 160 to 340 GSM. All organic styles are GOTS certified. All fabric is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.
The Commercial Terms
MOQ is 500 pieces per style per colour. Lead times are 8 to 10 weeks from order confirmation. FOB pricing for organic cotton t-shirts runs EUR 2.55 to 3.30. Organic cotton hoodies run EUR 6.70 to 8.35.
Finished goods ship from Istanbul by truck and arrive at UK distribution centres in 3 to 5 days. That is a material difference versus 25 to 35 days by sea from South Asia, particularly when you are managing reorder cycles or responding to in-season demand.
Why UK Brands Are Moving Production to Turkey
The shift is practical rather than ideological. UK brands that sourced from Bangladesh pre-Brexit found that landed costs increased after the trade agreement structure changed. Turkey offers comparable or better quality at competitive FOB prices, lower landed cost after duty, faster transit, and easier communication given the time zone overlap with the UK.
For certified sustainable ranges specifically, Turkey has a deeper pool of GOTS-certified manufacturers than any other non-EU country, which matters when your retail buyers start asking for supply chain documentation.
